Welchel is very public advocate for Born-Again Christian values, which is nothing like the materialistic, superficial, snobby débutante Blair Warner. Blair was a girl from a rich family, and often lorded her wealth and privilege over the other students from her dorm at Eastland, a private school for girls. Aside from having real-life values that are direct conflict to Blair's flamboyance, Welchel believes that home schooling is the best form, and educates her three children at home.
