Lisa Murkowski is the junior Republican senator representing Alaska; she is the first woman ever to be elected to a chamber of Congress from that state. Murkowski is the daughter of Frank Murkowski, the 10th governor of Alaska.

Early Life
Murkowski lived in various towns across Alaska as a child before majoring in economics at Georgetown. In 1985, she earned a Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law. Murkowski worked as a lawyer until beginning her political career in 1998. -
