Lisa Montgomery was found guilty in a Kansas court for strangling expectant mother, Bobbie Jo Stinnett, and cutting the unborn baby from her womb in a gruesome 2004 kidnapping. The two women met online, both were Rat Terrier dog breeders. Montgomery knew that Stinnett was expecting people to come look at her dogs. Montgomery took advantage, knowing she would answer her door without suspicion, and was pregnant. Acquaintances stated she was desperate for a child. Police reports say that before her arrest in Melvern, Kansas, Montgomery was showing off the baby as her own. When police arrested Montgomery, she confessed to strangling Bobbie Jo Stinnett, and stealing the baby. Montgomery was sentenced to death for the slaying of Bobbie Jo Stinnett on April 4, 2008. Her defense attorneys say they will appeal.
