Background
Authorities state that communication between the two started when the boy was 16. Authorities have documented hundreds of phone calls and text messages exchanged between the two. The boy can recall 10 separate occasions of having sexual encounters with Marinelli, mostly in her car.On one occasion the boy's father noticed that his son was "holding his pants together and putting them back in place" as he left Marinelli's car. Under Florida law, a 17-year-old cannot consent to having sex with a person older than 24.
