Lisa Fernandez

  • Lisa Fernandez is an American softball player who has pitched for American gold-medal Olympic softball teams three consecutive times. She played softball from an early age, and made a name for herself as a skilled pitcher during her time at St. Joseph High School in Lakewood, California. She attended UCLA and continued to play softball, earning numerous awards including the Honda-Broderick Cup for outstanding athleticism.

    After graduation, she played in national softball leagues and made her first Olympic appearance in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games. She is the assistant coach for UCLA's Women's Softball team. On March 28, 2008 it was announced that Fernandez failed to qualify, but will be a replacement player, for the USA softball team at the [[2008 Olympics|2008 Beijing Olympic Games].
