Linksys is a division of Cisco Systems that manufactures small office and home business networking equipment. Established in 1988, with a headquarters in Irvine California, USA, they are now know as LInksys by Cisco, as labeled on their product packaging and website. Linksys was acquired by Cisco in 2003. The stock deal was valued at roughly $500 million dollars for the company which had just 300 employees at the time.
Similar to their owner, the deal in networking equipment and services, such as routers and switches for personal and business use. They also deal with a variety of other consumer electronics.
As of March 2007, Linksys had an employee base of over 700 employees, under the leadership of CEO Ned Hooper.
