Links Golf

Links golf refers to a type of golf course that features more sand hazards than water and a minimum of trees. They are usually found in coastal areas and are often windy. Some are built on land reclaimed from the ocean.

History

Golf as it is played today came out of Scotland, though stick and ball games came from the Roman Empire and China long before. The Old Links at Musselburgh claims to be the oldest surviving course in the world, with Mary, Queen of Scots supposedly having played there in 1567.
