LinkedIn is a social networking site founded by Reid Hoffman targeting both job-seeking and working professionals. The site includes over 120 millions professionals from all over the world and covers overs 150 industries. A premium membership is also available, which gives members additional ability for contacting members and greater access to the directory of users. In 2001 Q1 there was speculation that LinkedIn would attempt to file an IPO. The rumors hinted at a Fall 2008 IPO filling although nothing has been released to confirm this.

Reid Hoffman was part of the founding board of directors of PayPal and part of the PayPal Mafia. He has been called one of the most connected men in silicon valley and is ths current Chairman/President of LinkedIn. Hoffman was inspired to create LinkedIn after noticing his many stacks of business cards were difficult to manage.
