Lincoln, NE

Located in Southeastern Nebraska, Lincoln is the capital of Nebraska. It is also the home to the University of Nebraska. Originally founded in 1856 as the town of Lancaster, The town was renamed in 1965 after the late President Lincoln. It officially became the capital when Nebraska became a state on March 1, 1867.

Being the state capital, the Nebraska State Fair is held in Lincoln each year in late August/early September. Visitors can tour the capital building, that dates back to the 1920s. Sports fans are also welcomed at the University of Nebraska, where the Nebraska Cornhuskers Football team is considered a main attraction of the town.
