Lincoln Chafee

Lincoln Chafee is a former Republican member of the U.S. Senate. He was appointed to the Senate on November 2, 1999, to fill the vacancy after his father, Senator John H. Chafee, died. Chafee recently caused a controversy when he called Republican vice presidential candidate in the Election 2008, Sarah Palin a ‘‘cocky wacko’’. The comment was made at a meeting of the New America Foundation in Washington D.C.
