Lincoln Car

The Lincoln Town Car is an American luxury sedan manufacturer originally based out of Spring Hill, Tennessee that has been in production since 1917. Lincoln is owned by Ford Motor Company. It remains the most-used limousine and chauffeured car in both the United States and Canada.c

Lincoln Timeline

1917: Henry M. Leland, founder of Cadillac, formed the Lincoln Motor Company.
1922: Ford Motor Company purchased Lincoln for $8 million.

1924: Lincoln was becoming the car of choice for wealthy Americans and was owned by the likes of Herbert Hoover, Thomas Edison and W.C. Fields.c
1927: Greyhound was adopted as the Lincoln emblem.
1939: The Lincoln Continental was first produced.
1939 through 1950: Lincoln V12 was used by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
1965: The Lincoln Cosmopolitan was retired after being used by Presidents Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.
1998 through 2002: Lincoln became a member of the Premier Automotive Group.

2007: The Town Car was discontinued for retail in Canada, becoming livery-exclusive.
