LimeWire

LimeWire is a free, Java Platform file-sharing client on which users download songs, movies and other types of media directly from other users' computers. On August 14, 2007, the company announced that it will introduce a digital music store. As of May 31, 2008, Limewire has processed more than 147 million downloads.

Copyright Issues

Like all peer-to-peer file sharing networks, LimeWire can be used to share copyrighted material. In 2006, the RIAA filed a lawsuit against LimeWire. They sought damages of $150,000 per occurrence of each illegally traded file.
