  • Reviews

"Many factors combine in the overall success of the film, notably the restrained direction by Ralph Nelson, a thoroughly competent screenplay by James Poe [from a novel by William E. Barrett], and, of course, Poitier's own standout performance."Variety Staff http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117792605.html?categoryid=31&cs=1

"Sidney Poitier is masterful as Homer Smith; this is one of the roles that Poitier will be remembered for. His subtle humor fills the plot, even becoming hilarious at times."Mark O'Hara http://www.movie-page.com/reviews/l/lilies_of_the_field.htm
