The Liberty Bowl is one of 35 post-season college football bowl games. Held annually since 1959, the Liberty Bowl hosts teams from the Conference USA and the Southeastern Conference. Competing in the 2010 Liberty Bowl were the Georgia Bulldogs from the SEC and the Central Florida Knights from the Conference USA. The first Liberty Bowl was held on December 19, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1964, the game moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey, then moved again the following year to its current home, Memphis, Tennessee. Liberty Bowl Parade
As shown from footage from the 2009-10 college football season, prior to the actual game of the Liberty Bowl, a parade is held to get fans excited for the action. In the game, the East Carolina Pirates appeared in the game, which prompted fans of the team, their mascot and their cheerleaders to attend and participate in the parade. Fans can be heard shouting "purple" and "gold," the colors of the Pirates.
