Liars

Liars is an experimental rock band formed in 2000. Although their debut album was praised for its post-punk style, the band is notorious for shifting styles between albums. Despite their stylistic shifts, the band's material is commonly focused on creating music with complex rhythms and experimenting with atypical kinds of sound.

Shifting Gears

Their debut album, They Threw Us All in a Trench and Stuck a Monument on Top, was mostly dance-punk oriented with fast rhythms and guitar riffs, while their follow-up album, They Were Wrong, So We Drowned slowed the pace down considerably in favor of more experimental, atmospheric rock. Their third album, Drum's Not Dead was their first concept album which was focused on drum beats and rhythms. Their fourth album, Liars returned to a more conventional rock sound, while maintaining the sense of effects-driven atmosphere from their second album.
