  • Li Na is a professional tennis player. She is Chinese and is the first ever player from their country to reach the top 30 in 2006. In 2007, she ranked 20 and in 2009, she became not just China's no.1 but also Asia's number 1. She ranked No. 16 worldwide in the same year as well. She has been one of the greatest Chinese tennis players.

    Li Na is the only child of Sheng-Peng and Yan-Ping. She started playing tennis at the early age of 9 after playing badminton for two years. Her coach then encouraged her to switch to tennis from badminton because she was moving like a tennis player.

    Li Na is known for her powerful groundstrokes that bounces unpredictably almost everywhere within the court. She has quick reflexes too. She is an offensive baseliner because her shots are very strong. Her goal in life is to win a Grand Slam title.

    Even though Lina suffered from numerous injuries, such as an ankle injury during 2005 and rib injury in 2007, she has proven that she's still a great tennis player this year after advancing to rank 16. Overall, her career prize money adds up to $2,043,296.

    She married her coach Jiang Shan on January 27, 2006.
