Lhotse is a mountain in Asia and part of the Himalayas. It is the fourth highest mountain on Earth at with its highest peak at 27,940 feet or 8,516 meters above sea level. The only mountains taller than Lhotse are Mount Everest, K2, and Kanchenjunga all of which are also in Asia. Lhotse is located on the border Tibet (officially China) and Nepal.
Getting to Everest
Lhotse is notable in its own right, but one of the things it is known for is its proximity to Mount Everest. Climbers who are attempting to climb up the most commonly used route to the top of Everest must spend some time on Lhotse as well. The western side of Lhotse, known as Lhotse Face must be climbed before climbers can reach Everest's Southern Col.
