Lhasa Apso

Lhasa Apsos are a small non-sporting breed of dog that was originally from Tibet.AKC: Lhsa Apso HistoryIt was used to guard the homes of nobles in Tibet and also to warn of intruders in the Buddhist monasteries, notably near the city of Lhasa. Health Problems

The Lhasa Apso is considered a healthy breed but is susceptible to health issues such a progressive retinal atrophy, and kidney disease.

Sports or Activities

The breed was originally bred to be a guard dog and was categorized as a terrier, but in 1959 it was re-assigned as a non-sporting dog. The breed is also generally noted for its long hair in its standard look, and can require frequent grooming to maintain that appearance.
