Lewis Black's Root of All Evil is a half-hour comedy show in which comedian Lewis Black acts as a judge presiding over a mock trial in which comedians act as advocates for one of two pre-determined cultural evils. Based on the comedians' arguments, Black decides which of the two is the "root of all evil."
The show's regular comedian/lawyers include Paul F. Tompkins, Andy Kindler, Patton Oswalt, Andrew Daly, Greg Giraldo and Kathleen Madigan.
The show received mixed critical reviews. Some critics have called it "second-tier" programming while others, like The Plain Dealer's Mark Dawidziak have called the show, "a good fit with a Comedy Central lineup that includes Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Sarah Silverman and, of course, South Park."
