Levi Stubbs, former lead singer of the R&B group the Four Tops, died in his home on October 17, 2008, at the age of 72. Stubbs, who had not been on tour with the Four Tops for several years due to his health, died in his sleep. The Four Tops achieved great success as one of many popular R&B acts that called Motown Records home beginning in the Sixties. The original members of the group were Levi Stubbs, Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Lawrence Payton and Renaldo "Obie" Benson. Payton died in 1997 and Benson died in 2005. Later members included Theo Pelpes, Ronnie McNeir and Payton's son Roquel Payton.
