  • Life and Career

    Leslie Moonves was born in New York City, New York, and raised in Valley Stream, New York. He attended Bucknell University and returned to New York City where he sought work as an actor. After limited success, Moonves changed career paths and went into the corporate side of entertainment.

    He served as president of Warner Bros. television before taking on the job of president and CEO of CBS. When he joined CBS, the company was faring poorly, but by 2003, Moonves announced that CBS was the only network to have increased viewer numbers by 1%. He has appeared a number of times on The Late Show with David Letterman to talk about the affairs of CBS.

    Moonves married TV presenter Julie Chen in 2004.
