Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, sculptor architect and writer. As the archetype of the Renaissance Man, da Vinci experimented with many different professions during his lifetime. A science journalist investigating da Vinci's "Codex on the Flight of Birds" notebook discovered what appears to be a self-portrait drawn in the 1480s.
