Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen was already an internationally accomplished novelist and poet before getting serious about penning some tunes in his thirties. His influence in songwriters' circles compares to artists like Bob Dylan, who did not until recently have a successful tome under their belts. Cohen was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
Cohen embarked on a full-scale tour of North American and Canada in 2009. On February 19, 2009, Cohen performed his first American concert in nearly 15 years at New York's Beacon Theater. In addition to the tour, Cohen released Live in London, his first new album since 2004. The set was recorded at his 2008 performance at London's O2 Arena. The album was released on March 31, 2009 by Columbia Records.
