Lenny Wilkens

  • Lenny Wilkens is a former professional basketball player and coach in the National Basketball Association. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player (1989) and coach (1998).
  • Career

    Lenny Wilkins was drafted out of Providence College by the St. Louis Hawks in 1960. While playing for the Hawks, Wilkins was runner-up for the league's MVP award in 1968. He also led the league in assists during the 1969-1970 regular season. His performances earned him a spot on the NBA All-Star team nine different times.

    Wilkins became a player-coach in 1969 until retiring as a player in 1975. Wilkins accumulated the most wins ever for an NBA coach. He also led the Seattle SuperSonics to an NBA Championship in 1979.
