Leif Garrett

He appeared on the television series Gunsmoke, and would appear in numerous shows such as Family, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, and The Odd Couple. In 1977, a self-titled album was released and he reached the Billboard top 100 four times. One such song was a remake of "Runaround Sue" which reached as high as #13 on the charts. His second album included his signature song, the 1978 top five single "I Was Made for Dancin'". Garrett's life took a sudden turn in 1979 when he was involved in a one-car accident three days shy of his 18th birthday, which was caused by his being under the influence of alcohol and Quaaludes. Despite appearances in films such as The Outsiders, he never recovered from the depression caused by the accident. He began periods of abusing drugs and alcohol, and has been arrested several times. The first time occurred in 1999 after the airing of an episode of VH1's Behind The Music about Garrett's life. He was again arrested in 2005 and pleaded guilty to cocaine possession. In January of 2006, he was arrested in Los Angeles for not having a ticket to ride on the public transportation rail system.
