General Information
The use of leg warmers originated with dancers. The Leg warmer worked as a way to keep the muscles heated and loose for stretching before dancing. They were also used during periods of inactivity to retain the heat to the muscles generated by exercise. In the 80's, they became an immensely popular fashion accessory. They were admired for their fashionable designs and patterns, which drew favorable attention to the legs of females. They proved to be compatible with popular outfits such as Shorts, Skirts, and Mini-skirts. Due to their popularity in films such as Flashdance and its use by artists such as Madonna they became an iconic fashion piece for its time.-
