Leeroy Jenkins

Leeroy Jenkins is the name of a virtual character made famous after his appearance in a World of Warcraft (WOW) video. Ben Schulz created this character for his use in the popular video game.

Jenkins became famous in 2005 when his guild, "Pals for Life," aired a video of what had happened during game play one day. Jenkins was away from his keyboard (AFK) while other players on his team discuss strategy for taking “eggs” from a group they have had problems defeating in the past. Returning to his computer Jenkins jumps in and without knowing what had been happening runs straight into the other group’s area yelling his screen name to the demise of his team mates they are all defeated. World of Warcraft is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, also known as MMORPG, created by Blizzard Entertainment. WOW is the world of Azeroth and draws from the lore of the Warcraft universe.
