Ledisi

Ledisi (pronounced LED-is-EE) is a soul and R&B from New Orleans. Often compared to Ella Fitzgerald due to her scat style singing.

Ledisi began singing with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra at teh age of eight. After moving to Oakland, California she attended the University of California Berkeley where she studied opera and piano in their Young Musicians Program. She released two independant albums, Soulsinger in 2000 and Feeling Orange But Sometimes Blue in 2002.

In 2007 Ledisi signed with Verve records and released her major label debut, Lost & Found. The album was laternominated for a Grammy in the Best R&B; Album category.
