The United States bombed Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Three days later, the U.S. bombed Nagasaki. The atomic bombs completely destroyed the Japanese cities. Japan ceased hostilities On August 14, 1945, V-J (Victory in Japan) Day, Japan ceased hostilities against the United States.
