Le Tigre is an indie-rock band from New York that formed in 1998. Their music is heavily influenced by the rhythmic and vocal styles in both electro-pop and post-punk music. Though their material is frequently upbeat and danceable, the lyrical delivery and content communicates a strong sense of agitation and frustration, often political in nature. The band announced in 2007 that it would be going on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time.
Social and Political Activists
Paralleling their musical style, all three members of Le Tigre are strong social activists for the very same issues that their music often tackles, including feminism, gay rights, sexual abuse, politics, and animal protection.
