College Career
Prior to joining the NFL, Tynes played college football with the Troy Trojans in the NCAA. Over his college career, Tynes completed 72.6 percent of his field goal attempts, setting a school record for the most field goals, at 45. Professional Career
After college, Tynes went undrafted and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad in 2001. The following year, he played 10 games with the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europa, then joined the Ottawa Renegades in the Canadian Football League for the remainder of the 2002 season and in 2003. He returned the Chiefs in 2004, kicking for the team in all 16 games over the next three seasons.
