Lawrence Taylor is a retired linebacker for the NFL's New York Giants. Drafted with the second overall pick in the 1981 NFL Draft, Taylor spent his entire career with the Giants, finally retiring after 1993 season.http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TaylLa00.htm
After his playing days, Taylor had a series of run ins with the law, including several drug charges as well as one charge of leaving the scene of the accident. On May 5, 2010 Taylor was Arrested for a charge of third-degree-rape when he was accused of raping a 16-year-old runaway and prostitute after she decided she did not want to go through with a deal Taylor had struck with her supposed pimp.
When Taylor wasn’t getting into legal troubles he was spending time on one of the more popular prime time reality television shows, Dancing with the Stars. Lawrence Taylor NFL Career
Although not heavily recruited out of high school, Lawrence Taylor was an all-American linebacker with the North Carolina Tar Heels, and after being drafted by the Giants forged a hall of fame playing career in the NFL.
Among his honors, Lawrence Taylor was named the 1981 Defensive Rookie of the year as well as the 1981 and 1982 Defensive Player of the Year. In 1986 he was named the NFL MVP while led his Giants to a Super Bowl win under head coach Bill Parcells.
Taylor was also named to the Pro-Bowl in each of his first 10 seasons, and was named to the NFL All-Pro Team eight separate times. Seven different times in Taylor’s career he accumulated more than 10 sacks in a season, and in 1986, he finished the year with an NFL record for linebackers of 20.5 sacks.
