Lawn Mowers

    • Inventor: Edwin Beard Budding
    • Invented: 1827 in England
    • Scythe was the preferred pre-mower solution to maintaining lawns
  • The mowers that mechanize the process of cutting and maintaining lawn grass come in a number of variations. Push mowers are usually not electric motorized, and rotary mowers usually are; each must be walked behind, while riding lawn mowers require less exertion and can cover a greater area in a shorter amount of time. Heavy duty lawn tractors are reserved for the vast expanses of grass like those found at the golf course.
  • John Deere

John Deere (official company name: Deere & Company) is the largest manufacturer of lawn mowers, and is certainly the most recognizable as well. Its mowers' green and yellow color scheme and their "Nothing runs like a Deere" slogan has translated into the public consciousness, with clothing like trucker hats and t-shirts happily worn by folks who've never been within 100 yards of a piece of Deere equipment.
