  • Lauren Burk, a freshman at Auburn University, was found with a single gunshot wound in the head on North College Street near Auburn University at 9:08 pm on March 4, 2008. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died. Her 2001 Honda Civic was found on fire in a parking lot at Auburn University. Police have confirmed that she was not sexually assaulted. On March 7, 2008, police arrested Courtney Lockhart, a 23-year-old confessed robber, for Burk's murder.
