Lauren Burk, a freshman at Auburn University, was found with a single gunshot wound in the head on North College Street near Auburn University at 9:08 pm on March 4, 2008. She was rushed to the hospital, where she died. Her 2001 Honda Civic was found on fire in a parking lot at Auburn University. Police have confirmed that she was not sexually assaulted. On March 7, 2008, police arrested Courtney Lockhart, a 23-year-old confessed robber, for Burk's murder.

Courtney Lockhart Confession
Lockhart's signed confession was read in court on March 10, 2008. He admitted to robbing, abducting, and shooting Burk, as well as setting her car on fire following the murder.Quotes:
