Lauren Ambrose

Lauren Ambrose is an American actress who has been nominated for two Emmys for her portrayal of Claire Fisher on the popular HBO television series Six Feet Under. Her voice will appear as that of one of the "Wild Things" in the upcoming film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's 1963 children's book, Where the Wild Things Are.

Brief Biography

Born Laura Anne D'Ambruoso in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1978, the young actress adopted the stage name "Lauren Ambrose" while starring in Off-Broadway productions in New York City. She appeared in the 1997 romantic comedy In & Out alongside Kevin Kline and Joan Cusack, and in 2001 she began her long-running role as the art student with a close-up perspective on death and burial in Six Feet Under. Ambrose married photographer Sam Handel in 2001, and bore their first child, Orson, in January 2007.
