Laura Innes is an American actress and director that stars on the NBC drama The Event. She plays the role of Sophia Maguire, a woman who heads up a mysterious group of detainees that are being held in a top secret facility. Laura Innes was born on August 16, 1957 in Pontiac, Michigan, the youngest of six children. She made her film debut in the 1978 film The Fury while she was a student at Northwestern University in Chicago, where she graduated with a degree in theater in 1979. Laura Innes developed a passion for acting at a young age, and remembers 'playing dead' in the living room of her family's home when she was a child.
