Laura Garza of Brooklyn, New York, was reported missing on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, after she was last seen leaving a nightclub in Manhattan with two men. Shortly after Garza went missing, police arrested 23-year-old registered sex offender Michael Mele in connection with the case. Though Mele hasn't been charged in Garza's disappearance, he did plead guilty in October 2009 on charges he failed to report a change of address to police. One of the men was 23-year-old registered sex offender Michael Mele. Mele turned himself in to state police on Friday, December 5, 2008, and was held on $50,000 bond for a parole violation.
