Laura Dern

Academy Award nominee Laura Dern is a film and television actress whose notable works include Jurassic Park and Rambling Rose. She is the daughter of actor Bruce Dern and actress Diane Ladd. In 1997 she played the role of the woman who Ellen DeGeneres kissed in the controversial "coming out" episode of Ellen. She won a Golden Globe in 2009 for her work on the HBO minisieres HBO.

Dern played Ellen's lesbian love interest on her 1990s sitcom. In 1997 the prime-time television on-screen kiss between Ellen DeGeneres and Dern created such a stir that Dern told DeGeneres in a later interview on her talk show, that she could not get a job until almost a year later due to the public backlash surrounding the controversial kiss.
