Lake Huron

Lake Huron is the second largest of the five Great Lakes, bounded by Michigan and Ontario. The lake got its name from European explorers who named it after the people inhabiting its shoreline. Nearly the size of West Virginia, Lake Huron is the second largest lake as compared to the other four Great Lakes.

Background Information

Lake Huron is the third largest fresh water lake in the world with an average depth of 195 feet. The water from the lake comes the St. Marys River and then flows southward into Lake Huron. Home to a number of wildlife, Lake Huron contains fish such as carp, chinook salmon, a variety of panfish, bass, pike, and catfish.
