Lady Gaga is an Italian-American singer/songwriter known for catchy pop hits and outlandish stage performances. Lady Gaga 'Fashion' isn't just one of her hit singles. Fashion and her extravagant sense of style have allowed Lady Gaga to make a name for herself as much as her music.
“I always loved rock and pop and theater. When I discovered Queen and David Bowie is when it really came together for me and I realized I could do all three,” says Lady Gaga on her Website. "I look at those artists as icons in art. It’s not just about the music. It’s about the performance, the attitude, the look; it’s everything. And, that is where I live as an artist and that is what I want to accomplish.” http://www.ladygaga.com/bio/
Lady Gaga's theatrical approach to performance is rooted in her collaboration with an artist called Lady Starlight, with whom she created her elaborate costumes. The duo performed at Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue and gained some local notoriety. Soon Gaga was well-involved in the NYC music scene and writing music for other artists. As a solo artist, her song "Fashion" made it onto the soundtrack for the hit Hollywood movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. The song's lyrics seem to display the performers' commitment to style and mirrored the course of Lady Gaga's fame.
- "I am,
- I'm too fabu-lous
- I'm so fierce that it's so nuts
- I live, to be model thin
- Dress me, I'm your manne-quin"
"I love Dolce & Gabbana. I love Versace. I love the crazy, more eccentric stuff. I can't pay my rent, but I'm f---ing gorgeous," said Lady Gaga.http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3078932/bio
Lady Gaga Career
Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, Lady Gaga was able to play piano by ear at age 4. She began composing her own music at 13. While in high school she sang with a classic rock band at her private school - Convent of the Sacred Heart. http://www.people.com/people/lady_gaga/biography
Her 2008 debut album "The Fame Monster" featured hit songs "Just Dance" and "Poker Face," whose popular highly stylized videos cemented Gaga in the visual minds of a mass audience. As she became more recognized and consequently more often snapped by paparazzi, the world was introduced to Gaga's extravagant style. One of the performer's trademark looks in early 2009 was to omit bottoms from her outfits. She often wore body suits with jackets and hats - but no pants, no skirt. Gaga was even once detained in Chicago by an officer who objected to her wardrobe. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1607225/20090318/lady_gaga.jhtml
As 2009 progressed Gaga's stars continued a meteoric rise and her style gained greater influence. Other celebs and starlets in training were seen wearing the no pants look with varying degrees of success including Rihanna, and Melody Thornton.
Gaga appeared on numerous magazine covers in 2009, including fashion heavyweights V and Elle magazines. http://www.thefashioncult.com/2009/12/lady-gaga-is-elles-first-2010-cover/ She was also honored as a style-maker at the ACE Awards. She arrived for the event dipped in white powder and posing her hands in claw-like shapes, which would become another trademark of hers.
After a year of being treated to her antics and singular street style, the public was anxious for Gaga's next video installment. "Bad Romance" debuted in late 2009 and was lauded for its fashion content. In the video, Lady Gaga wears shoes and address from Alexander McQueen's much talked about SS2010 collection.

Lady Gaga Suffers for her Fashion
Lady Gaga was in London for her tour the first week of March 2010. The performer didn't let her the 40-degree weather stop her from wearing her extreme Gaga fashions. She's seen in the this photo wearing a barely-there dress by Craig Lawrence - with no coat! I guess that little cup of tea is keeping her warm.
