Czech professional hockey player Ladislav Smíd is defenseman for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League.
Smíd represented his home country in three straight World Junior Championships, from 2004 through 2006, and also at the 2007 World Championships.

NHL Career
Smíd was drafted ninth overall by the Anaheim Ducks during the first round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and played with the Ducks' American Hockey League affiliate, the Portland Pirates, for the 2005-2006 season. He was traded to the Edmonton Oilers and became a regular member of their lineup for the 2006-2007 season, during which he earned ten points in 77 games. He split the 2007-2008 season between NHL and AHL game play. -
