    LaDainian Tomlinson was drafted by the Chargers in 2001 with the fifth overall pick. Since his rookie season, Tomlinson has started in all but one game. Throughout his career, Tomlinson has set numerous NFL rushing records. In 2006, he set a new record by scoring 31 touchdowns during the regular season. The previous record of 28 was set the year before by Shaun Alexander. Tomlinson also broke Alexander's record of 27 rushing touchdowns by carrying the ball into the end zone 28 times.     On January 3, 2009, news agencies reported that LaDainian Tomlinson has a detached tendon in his groin. Despite the injury he will attempt to play in the Colts vs. Chargers wildcard playoff game.     On January 7, 2009, Ladainian Tomlinson confirmed the injury to his groin and also stated that he may possibly return later in the Chargers post season. Tomlinson stated, "It's definitely torn. I can't really elaborate on it because I don't want to give too much information away."
