Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy announced on January 25, 2008 that she has opened an investigation into perjury issues surrounding Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his Chief of Staff, Christine Beatty. On March 24, she officially charged both of them with perjury, conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice and misconduct in office.
