Kyle Petty is a NASCAR driver completing in both the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series. The son of legendary NASCAR driver Richard Petty, and grandson of Lee Petty, he joined the NASCAR circuit in 1979. In his first race, at Talladega Motor Speedway, he finished ninth. The following year he would finish fourth on the overall point standings
In 1997 he formed his own team, in partnership Petty Enterprises. This team would go on to set a NASCAR record for points by a first year team, finishing 15th in overall point standings. This team would later be merged into Petty Enterprises and Kyle would become CEO of Petty Enterprises.
In 2000 after his son Adam was killed in a practice accident at the New Hampshire International Speedway Kyle would completed the season driving Adam’s car on the Busch circuit. Since then Kyle has campaigned a car at New Hampshire every year in honor of Adam.
Kyle is featured in a video game called Kyle Petty's No Fear Racing.
