  • The Kwikset SmartScan is a battery powered deadbolt lock. The lock can be unlocked with a standard key or by using the user's fingerprint.
  • How It Works

The Kwikset SmartScan lock can be programmed with up to 50 fingerprints. Any authorized person swipes their finger across the sensor that is located at the bottom of the lock to unlock the door. To re lock the door, the authorized person taps the sensor three times and it will lock.

The SmartScan sensor reads fingerprints that are located beneath the surface of the outer layer, so that any dirty or worn fingertips will not affect it.

  • Temporary Access

A feature on the SmartScan lock allows the user to provide temporary or time restricted access. The user can program the day or time that babysitter, nanny, or anyone else can come into the home. Access will be denied to anyone that tries to use the lock at times that they are not supposed to.
  • Battery Power

The lock is powered by four AA batteries. When the batteries need to be changed, the lock will signals ahead of time. The batteries usually last for up to one year when used normally.
