Kurt Sauer is a professional hockey player originally from St. Cloud, Minnesota. He is currently with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League.
Career Highlights
Prior to his NHL days, Sauer played in the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs, starting in 1999. He was then drafted 88th overall in the 2000 NHL Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. Sauer continued to play in the WHL for two additional seasons after the draft. On June 6, 2002, Sauer signed as a free agent with the Anaheim Ducks, making his NHL debut that same year. Just a few months later he played in the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals with the Ducks, where they were defeated by the New Jersey Devils. After nearly two seasons with the Ducks he was traded back to the Avalanche on February 21, 2004. On January 20, 2007, Sauer played his 200th career NHL game as the Avalanche defeated the Detroit Red Wings.
