Kristy Lee Cook was a Top 7 finalist on American Idol Season 7. She left the show on April 16, 2008, after her performance of the Mariah Carey song "Forever."
Musical Background
Before Idol, Cook had a record deal with Britney Spears' production company and with Arista Nashville, a division of RCA Records. She also released an album in 2005, called Devoted. Her prior contracts and album attracted scrutiny because of the rules American Idol is supposed to adhere to.
Personal Life
Cook's boyfriend of a year and a half, Andy Dobner, proposed to her on March 15, 2008. However, she wanted to keep her focus on the competition and decided to keep the proposal secret. Dobner again proposed to her on the night of April 16, 2008. She revealed the engagement that night on American Idol. Reportedly, the marriage may take place in June, 2009.
