Professional ice hockey player Kris Beech currently plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League.
Early Years
Beech began his career in 1996 with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League. He was then drafted seventh overall in the 1999 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. Beech made his NHL debut the following year, splitting the season between the Capitals and their minor league affiliate. He was then traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 11, 2001. Beech stayed in Pittsburgh for the next three seasons, again playing much of his time in the minors.
On The Move
Beech was traded to the Nashville Predators on September 9, 2005. Exactly five months later he was traded to the Washington Capitals, where he stayed through the 2006--07 regular season. On August 7, 2007, Beech signed as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was soon waived, then claimed by the Vancouver Canucks on January 10, 2008. He was picked up and just as quickly waived that month by the Washington Capitals, finally settling down with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
