Kraftwerk are a groundbreaking electronic music group from Germany that helped pioneer the use of synthesized sounds and electronic instruments in popular music and helped shape the German experimental music scene of the early 1970s (often referred to as "Krautrock'") Since their inception in 1970, the band has continued to release records, tour and perform. In early 2009, co-founding member Florian Schneider left the band. No reason was given for his departure.Reuters: Kraftwerk co-founder Florian Schneider quits band (January 5, 2009)
Influence
While never reaching a high level of commercial success themselves, they have gone on to influence a generation of new artists, including David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Devo, Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.-
