  • Career

    In 1954, Koko Taylor moved to Chicago and began singing in blues clubs until she was discovered by producer Willie Dixon in 1962. He was able to get her shows in larger venues and eventually got her signed to a deal with Chess Records. In 1966, Dixon and Taylor teamed up in recording the single Wang Dang Doodle, which was a huge success. Her national tours and record deal with Alligator Records in 1975 helped make her a mainstream artists and has made it possible for her to continue making records over the next three decades. In 1985, Taylor wont a Grammy for her work with the collaboration album Blues Explosion. She was also nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award for "Best Traditional Blues Album" for her album, Old School.
